How to Make Onion Hair Oil at Home (Step-by-Step Recipe)
Ingredients:
- 2 medium red onions
- ½ cup coconut oil or olive oil
- 1 tablespoon castor oil (optional — boosts thickness)
- A few curry leaves (optional — for shine and growth)
Instructions:
Step 1 — Prepare the Onion Extract
Peel the onions and blend them into a smooth paste. If you prefer, grate them finely instead. Strain the juice using a cloth or fine sieve.
Step 2 — Heat the Base Oil
In a small pan, heat the coconut or olive oil on low. Low heat is important to avoid burning the nutrients.
Step 3 — Add Onion & Extras
Add the onion juice (or paste), and if using, add curry leaves and castor oil. Allow the mixture to simmer gently for 8–10 minutes until the onion turns slightly brown.
Step 4 — Cool & Strain
Turn off the heat, let it cool completely, and strain the oil into a clean glass bottle. Keep it away from sunlight.
Your onion hair oil is ready!
