Method
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar using a hand mixer or stand mixer until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- In another bowl, mix the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
Forming the Cookies
- In a small bowl, combine sanding sugar and cinnamon.
- Scoop portions of the dough and roll into 1-inch balls. Roll each ball in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated.
- Place the dough balls on the cookie sheet, spaced 2 inches apart.
Baking
- Bake for approximately 10 minutes, until edges are lightly golden and centers might appear underbaked.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the cookie sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
Notes
To ensure cookies turn out perfectly, avoid overmixing the dough and use room temperature butter.
