  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound Italian sausage, casing removed
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 4 cups marinara sauce
  • 16 oz. uncooked pasta, such as penne, rigatoni, or cavatappi

  • Mini mozzarella balls for serving
  • Parmesan cheese for serving
  • Fresh basil for serving

Method
 

Cooking
  1. Heat a large pot over medium-low heat and add the olive oil.
  2. Add the Italian sausage and break it apart into small pieces as it cooks for about 5 to 7 minutes until no longer pink.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until golden brown and fragrant.
  4. Pour in the marinara sauce and stir to combine.
  5. Add 2 cups of water and the uncooked pasta to the pot.
  6. Raise the heat to bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Cover and cook for about 12 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is al dente.
  7. Remove the lid, stir the pasta, and serve topped with Parmesan cheese, mini mozzarella balls, and fresh basil.

Notes

Adjust ingredients to suit your taste. Consider adding red pepper flakes for spice or vegetables for added nutrition.
